Abstract

This study examines the attitudes of Egyptian academic and media elites towards anti-Americanization, globalization, and the role of the United States in the Middle East. Through qualitative analysis, the study explores the perceptions, beliefs, and opinions of elites with varying ideological orientations. Findings indicate a range of perspectives, with liberal, independent, rightist, and leftist media elites generally favoring anti-Americanization due to perceived inconsistencies in US policy towards the Arab region. In contrast, national academic and media elites exhibit a more nuanced stance, rejecting certain aspects of American culture and policy while acknowledging complexities. The study highlights the influence of ideological attitudes in shaping perceptions of anti-Americanization and underscores the need for a contextual understanding of these attitudes.
